Connection status info bar not shown in landscape

Steps

Route A

1. Rotate screen to portrait
2. Connect to core
3. Observe space below header bar
4. Disconnect from core
5. Rotate screen to landscape
6. Connect to core
7. Observe space below header bar

Route B

1. Connect to core
2. Enable Airplane mode
3. Rotate between landscape and portrait, observing space below header bar

Expected

Connection status information bar shows in both portrait and landscape.

Actual

Connection status information bar doesn't show in landscape, only in portrait.

Additional

This is using a Nexus 6 with LineageOS 15's Expanded Desktop enabled.

If this is intentional to save screen space, perhaps there should be some other indication for landscape orientation that it's disconnected?
